About Alysha

I started Pearls of Wisdom Counselling after completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.  Prior to my masters I attended UNB Fredericton, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology.  I grew up in the Fredericton area and have always loved the city and the small town feel in a city setting. During my undergraduate degrees I worked as a intervenor in a mental health crisis center.  Through that experience I developed a desire to help people both within and outside of moments of crisis within their lives.  I have  a passion for working with children and adolescents and knew I wanted to be able to create a safe and nurturing space that would foster a sense of comfort for people of all ages.

Within my practice I use a variety of psychological theories and techniques to inform my treatment approach.  I primarily use a client-centered perspective where you and I are equals and work together in determining the best fit for you. I also rely on narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), and attachment theory.
